I am a Chartered Engineer with an MSc in Chemical Engineering and a PhD in Biochemical Engineering from Swansea University.
I have had a varied career working for a number of blue-chip organisations, starting out with Boots Pharmaceuticals, ICI, Fisons Pharmaceuticals (which later became Rhone-Polenc) Zeneca Pharmaceuticals (which merged to become Astra-Zeneca) and Jacobs Engineering. I also took some time out of engineering to realise a dream of mine and from 1999 to 2004 I became a Director of “Simply Diving”; a scuba diving centre in Torremolinos, Spain, this was a break from the norm and extremely rewarding.
In 2005, after a short spell of working as a Senior Process Engineer for CEL, I joined PROjEN as a Principal Process Engineer working out of GlaxoSmithKline’s (GSK) Tonbridge site. My responsibilities included the development of User Requirement Briefs and User Requirement Specifications, Front End Design and Feasibility Studies, Project Engineering and Coordination with client. After a while, PROjEN promoted me to team leader and expanded my role to include GSK’s Beckenham and Stevenage sites.
In 2007, my role changed and I became part of the Account Management Team which meant my responsibilities expanded to include management of the sales delivery from the Key Account for the GSK Chemical Development, ensuring that work is delivered to the highest standards, by both overseeing others and from “hands on” involvement and developing the relationship with GSK through excellent customer relations.
More recently my role at PROjEN has shifted again and I am pleased to say that I have joined the Executive Management Team where I am involved greater with PROjEN’s business strategy and future direction. This is in addition to the GSK Key Account Manager role, which I have enjoyed immensely over the last few years and continue to do so…
My impressions at PROjEN….. Well as you can see my history with PROjEN speaks for itself. The management recognise talent, develop it and help it (me) to grow. When I joined the company, I was very much hands-on from an engineering perspective, now I am more aligned to determining customer needs, implementing procedures, ensuring that the key account performs and that the customer (GSK) receives a premium service.
My career with PROjEN to date has been very rewarding, not only from a work sense but also from a social perspective; PROjEN regularly arrange outside of work activities, these range from weekend walking in the lakes, wine tasting, comedy nights and Summer and Christmas Balls, all in all what I get from PROjEN is work life balance and I would thoroughly recommend it!For the latest career opportunities at PROjEN visit our vacancies section.
