Employee Profile - Tony Cunliffe

I began my career as a Process Development Engineer with a metal powder manufacturer, where I remained for six years. I then moved on to a Contract Engineering company in the North West of England, initially as a Process / Validation Engineer before becoming a Project Engineer and then a Project Manager. During this time I had a number of successful placements with Blue Chip companies in the Pharmaceutical, Fine Chemical and Petrochemical sectors. I remained with this company for eight years before moving on to PROjEN as a Project Manager.

At PROjEN I am a Project Manager running projects mainly, though not exclusively, for GlaxoSmithKline. I have full responsibility for delivery of these projects from inception through to handover. These responsibilities include managing multi-disciplined project teams, scheduling, budgeting, cost control, and commercial aspects. The projects vary in size and complexity from small one off purchases valued around £20K up to new process equipment installations valued around £2M.

PROjEN is a very rewarding place to work. The management structure is such that all levels within the company are approachable and senior management are always receptive to new ideas and methods of doing thing. The company is always proactive, looking for ways to improve its service to its clients and for opportunities to develop new clients. The success of the company can be measured not just in terms of the bottom line but also in terms of the length of its relationships with key clients and growth in personnel. The senior management are also keen to improve the working environment of its employees and recently these have included an office re-vamp and investment in new IT. The philosophy is that to succeed you need good people but you also need to give them the right tools for the job.

Outside of the workplace PROjEN are active in providing social opportunities for its employees and these include a walking club, sports-man nights and seasonal events.
